Balinese Statue

In Bali, You can almost see statue everywhere and they have different shape as well as size. Interestingly, there are more than hundreds of variation of the statue and there are few that gigantic, that they put in the middle of roundabout, to the smallest that they can put inside your bedroom.

Bali has hundreds of temple and there are few outstanding one, most common one that you can found is the temple at Tanah Lot. I like this statue, it is like giving feeling of welcoming. It is most common gesture for Balinese people to welcome and even to say hello, if you have been travel to Thailand, they also do the same gesture.

Bali Statue 2 239x360 Balinese StatueThe statue that has elephant nose, is at the entrance of my hotel. It is likely they worship this statue every morning as I can see many flower trace that found near the statue. Although Bali famous with their sunrise and sunset landscape, their statue also bring strong interest to some group of religious that come mostly from India, Thailand, Cambodia and even Indonesia itself.

I love Bali and next few post are still related to Bali.

Most Foreigner Do In Indonesia

Last few weeks, my group of friends and me visit Jakarta and some of them are the first time visiting Indonesia, especially Jakarta. I notice from my friend face, there are complex feeling when they arrive at Soekarno-Hatta international airport Terminal 2, some of them are amazed by some hand craft that displayed at airport, and some of them are amazed by most of escalator and electronics in airport not working like their country, and most of them are amazed how Indonesian immigration carefully inspect each visitor during passport check and takes roughly 10 – 15 minutes per person which cause long queue for foreigner line.

All of us who travel to Jakarta last week are going for SEA conference and they are really explore all the Jakarta food that they can found. I myself eating Bakso (meatball) almost everyday and my drink mostly avocado juice (It is hard to find avocado in KL) and also “Teh Botol” (A famous tea brand from Indonesia). With so many great food and beverages, I drink coffee luwak!!!, five nights in Jakarta is really not enough.

During our last day in Jakarta, we are rushing to buy souvenir as we really do not have time to buy during conference, and when I hear what they want to buy for their friend in Malaysia, most of them say the same thing, which is INDOMIE. I was speechless, well it is because for me, indomie is nothing special, just an instant noodle and you can see the photo above, i was shock so many indomie they bought, one of them bought more than one box to bring home to KL.

Guess once you visit Indonesia, you will comes back again (my friend can testify for this icon smile Most Foreigner Do In Indonesia ).

Mandiri Bank Museum, where it known as “Nederlandsche Handel-Maatschappij” during Batavia period, is one of important historical place in Jakarta where it preserve Netherlands structure and culture in the area. This building is the first bank in Indonesia founded by Netherlands government used to be a trading company and then it moves their business into banking industry.
