When the first time I have my first DSLR, the button that I always keep pressing is shutter button. I start aiming randomly and then press shutter multiple times. I have very itchy hand and when I am have a little time to rest, I will grab my DSLR and then start taking some random picture and I just keep pressing the shutter button many times until I am satisfied or when I am able to stop. When I see my photo in lightroom, most of the photo turn really bad and I delete all my photo and start again. Well, that is how I am really excited when the moment I hands Nikon D90.
During weekends, although I have full day of activity either serving volunteer in HOPE Worldwide Malaysia, or appointments that I have made in that day, I try to squeeze my time to take picture, and it is really random one. It is like pointing and shoot. and the image that I take is really huge number but there are no quality on the picture.
I am a bit discourage when I see the picture, but my adrenaline takes control me and I am inspired to take a nice picture that contain “ooohh” expression. Thanks for internet and many generous people that share their technique in photography and after I read a lot and see many example, I start to see different angle and view before I press the shuttle button.
When i see through my viewfinder, before i press the shutter button, i always asked myself what I really want to takes, what kind of effect, background, subject or reason I take this picture, then I am thinking what kind of story or emotion that i want to bring out with my photo. I always take a moment of breath before I took a picture or rapid shoot, and that moment of breath i imagine the final effect, result that will meet my expectation. With a little moment before I press shutter button, my image become alive and i get the final result exactly what I really want to achieve.
This trick can help for someone who has itchy hand like me. This can work even when you want to take candid shoot or sport shoot, the trick is prepare ahead of what you want to take and also imagine what is the final result that you really want to get. Losing patient can destroy your photo and if you just take the photo without thinking ahead, most of your photo probably really plain or boring.
Try this trick and post link of your photo after you apply this trick in comment box. I like to see the final result ^^.
