Warm Summer

I just browse some photography tutorial, and I found some which playing with candle. It makes the picture warm, and giving romantic feeling. I love the feeling of warm light from candle, and which is why candle light dinner is something that woman really loves. It gives romantic feeling, and giving great ambient.

Romantic ambient from candle

The key from picture above is lighting source is mainly from candle, which I had to ask the couple above to be closer to candle, while maintain romantic pose. With that simple steps, you can also create picture like above. You have to take the picture as soon as possible as the heat from candle is not comfortable for those who are near it, and you don’t want to take your subject cover with sweaty.

I had to set my ISO high as I do not want to increase my shutter speed more than 120, or else it will make the picture blur due to hand shake (I do not have steadiness arm like cyborg arm). Lightroom has great noise reduction, and thanks for that feature, even my camera Nikon D90, I am confident to set my ISO higher.

10 Principles of Beautiful Photography

There are few points that I really loves, like ‘Get rid of your toy camera’, means you better throw your point-and-shoot camera to your kids, little nephew or cousin, your little brother, or someone else that does not profound in photography. Those toys are design for kids or people who does not have strong enthusiast in photography but wants to snap few photos.

Another points that I really agree is ‘Admire Impressionism’. If you google impressionist, you will find common name like Monet or Renoir. Their work in painting has been in the collection of rich and wealthy, museums, art gallery, or become treasure. Can you draw same ‘feeling’ with your camera?

There are 8 more points in this book, personally I love to read it again and again to remind myself about taking great pictures. I would give you honest opinion, this book does not make your picture turn into multi-million dollar, but it will help you to get there with more practice, hard work, and imaginary.

If you are interested to know more about this book, you can CLICK THIS to go to the bookstore with US$4.95. I just wanna have some remind, by clicking the link above, will direct you to the website exactly same picture as below.

Restive effect – Lightroom Tutorial

I am a big fans of Adobe Lightroom, really big big fans as almost entire of my photo are develop using Lightroom and it is indeed really a great product. There are few advantages that you can find using Lightroom when you are editing your picture but today topic I would not discuss about that, or rather today I wanna share how to make restive effect popping out from your picture.

restive effect 480x318 Restive effect Lightroom TutorialThis is the picture that I too from Tioman during my dive trip, I personally love this one as it is really bring memory back and also the environment, beach at behind really bring out the feeling of relax. so I want to bring more details and use restive effect to this picture to bring out details as well as sharpness. Now the question is how do I do this?

I will divide this tutorial into two areas, one is tone, another one is presence. First lets go to tone area. Lets talk about Tone.

Increase exposure for a little, as it will bring more light, then put recover to 60, fill light to the max, then get black to 73. So my picture will be looks like more colorful and you will notice the different significantly by doing this.

Next we go to presence. put clarity and vibrance to max +100 to really make the color sharp, then decrease saturation to -86 so each color blend really well. This saturation is based on preference but I like each color blend nicely and the sharpness we still can found.

Before After mask editing 480x232 Restive effect Lightroom TutorialThis picture show the different between before and after post processing. As you can see, it does bring restive effect from my picture to be more sharp as well as the ocean feeling. You can use this tutorial to bring more significant color from your picture, and also you can copy and paste into your website, but just link back to this page and I will be very happy.

Alice lim 680x1024 Playing with Texture

It is my very first time using texture to make this art work. As you can tell there is no way any other camera can able to get this kind of picture naturally (if there is, please share to me how you do it icon smile Playing with Texture ). I love to take picture naturally with slightly warm tones and sharp images, but after I see some of the wedding photo from other blogs and photographers, I am inspired to use texture to enhance the photo and this is the first experiment.

I am using two different texture to create the picture above, and some tweaking in photoshop, it gives me this color and grain. I am new in photoshop and I love some of photography blog they willing to share their techniques how to enhance the images, click this LINK to see the tutorial that I view and tried.
