Is Mirrorless Camera Suitable To Be Professional Photographer?

sony nex5 front 300x169 Is Mirrorless Camera Suitable To Be Professional Photographer?

Sony Nex-5

When Sony launching their new mirrorless camera product, it is such a big news in photography world. When someone mentioning DSLR, what comes to my mind is super giant camera, bulky, heavy, and many buttons in the camera body.

The special of Nex-5 and also Nex-3, both equipped withAOS-C crop sensor which is equal to DSLR camera quality and able to change lens like DSLR. I can see that this technologies will make entry level DSLR will be replaced by mirrorless camera like this.

One thing that I wondering, if I use this camera to do some of free lance, like become official wedding photographer, Will my client appreciate me if I use this camera? Some of my friends who shoot camera with D70 or D80, The client said that they also have the camera and they want the photographer use more advanced camera than they are. They want to see at least full-frame camera like D700 or even super bulky and heavy D3 class.

On the photograph side, Lighter and compact size DSLR really helps. Can you imagine D700 with 70-200 mm and D3x with 24-70 mm, both camera with the lens tie with your neck for more than three hours? You need neck massages after that or else neck pain will comes to haunt you.

Personally, This mirrorless camera is really interesting and I cant wait what is new technologies that they can offer and also the quality of picture. Indeed it is a nice and interesting toy for daily photograph, but for professional one, I am still prefer for bulky size DSLR camera, It looks very manly and I love the sound of shutter. What about your oppinion? Will you buy this kind of camera instead of DSLR?

20 Question I Asked Before Pressing Shutter Button

nikon d90 1 20 Question I Asked Before Pressing Shutter Button
Once I owns D90, the way I take picture is different when I am using my old point-and-shoot camera. Here are 20 questions that I often asked myself before pressing shutter button:
  1. What mode do I want to shoot in, Manual, auto, shutter or aperture priority?
  2. what F-stop, shutter speed, and ISO am I going to use?
  3. What format that I want to shoot, RAW or JPEG?
  4. What white balance mode I shoot?
  5. What K number if I shoot manual white balance?
  6. Will I shoot in Manual or Auto focus?
  7. Will I use flash?
  8. What story am I trying to tell?
  9. What kind of lens that suitable for the shoot?
  10. What is the foreground and background that can support my subject?
  11. What is my final result after I take the shoot, in B&W or something else?
  12. What I want to emphasize?
  13. Is there any leading lines that I can use?
  14. Will I use role of thirds or break it?
  15. Will it nice if the background is blur or focus?
  16. Can I get better angle?
  17. Is the shadows is too strong or too weak?
  18. Is my picture straight?
  19. In Portrait, Do i need to take candid or not?
  20. Do i just miss good moment?

It is totally different once I have DSLR, when I use point and shoot camera, life is easier, I do not ask a lot of question, just see the live view from the LCD and then just press the shutter, if something not good, I will delete the picture and press again until I satisfied with the end result, but when comes to DSLR, I have to learn a lot of setting and also take totally control of the camera, if I put in auto mode for every shoot, it really waste all the functions and technologies. One thing I know, I am totally happy during the learning period even a lot of troublesome, and when I see the end result that comes from my DSLR, I really happy about the result and it makes my passion growing.
